  OPENING CEREMONY

  LEFRIG. TRADITIONAL SAHRAWI CULTURAL FAIR

Organized by Sahrawi women, LeFrig is composed of traditional haimas, one from each municipality (Daira) in Ausserd and from each region (Wilaya) in the camps showcasing daily different traditions of Sahrawi life and culture

ROUNDTABLES

  • Cinema and Cultural Sovereignty in Western Sahara. Screening of the documentary Salam followed by a roundtable with Sahrawi filmmakers, including members of the EFA Aibidin Kaid Saleh film school.

  • Walking to Our Land. Screening of the short film Return to Al-Ma’in and roundtable on the Right to Return and the struggle for territorial sovereignty of indigenous peoples, focusing on Western Sahara, Palestine and the Sami peoples.

  EVENING IN THE DUNES

A sunset concert in the desert dunes outside the Ausserd camp, featuring traditional Sahrawi groups Luali and Tirs and the popular singer Mofid Ahmed and artistic acrobatics

SAHRAWI DANCE CLASS

Open to the public, these classes explore Sahrawi rhythm, culture and collective expression through movement and a shared experience

SAHRAWI CULTURAL EXPO

Cultural exhibit showcasing art from Western Sahara and handmade crafts for sale during the entire film festival celebration

VISIT TO AUSSERD INSTITUTIONS

Guided visit for international visitors wanting to see and learn about projects and institutions that are essential to life in the refugee camps

TRAVELING CINEMA

Mobile film sessions for Sahrawi audiences living far from FiSahara’s festival grounds, taking films to Dairas in Ausserd and to other Wilayas in the camps

  FOOTBALL MATCH

FOOTBALL

A match between the Sahrawi national soccer team and visitors, open to the public. We advise participants to bring adequate footwear

Tasting offered by students from the Cocina por el Cambio school, which promotes Sahrawi food sovereignty through its dishes, featuring chefs Carlos Maldonado and Banani Salamtou

  CLOSING CEREMONY

Closing ceremony, featuring Sahrawi traditional dance and singing. During the event, the jury awards will be presented to the best films screened during the festival and to the best jaimas of Le Frig

  ARA MALIKIAN & IVÁN ‘MELON’ LEWIS IN CONCERT

The violinist Ara Malikian will take a break from his world tour Intruso to reunite with pianist Iván ‘Melon’ Lewis and close the festival with an unforgettable concert. This violin virtuoso will perform some of his finest pieces from a repertoire that forms a personal narrative about identity and a sense of belonging.
